Monchhichi was born in Japan in 1974, the brainchild of Mr. Sekiguchi. He combined a soft plush monkey with a cute vinyl face, complete with a thumb for sucking. The very first Monchhichis were twins: a boy and a girl. The plush monkeys quickly became a huge hit in Japan and have since captured the hearts of young and old worldwide.
